Communions are a wonderful occasion to bring all your friends and family together and celebrate!
It’s also the perfect opportunity to book party entertainment for the kid’s (and perhaps the parents too!).
However, booking communion party entertainment can be stressful, and overwhelming. But, there’s no need to worry! We’ve organised hundreds of events, so we know a thing or two about making the party spectacular…
In this blog post, we’re going to share some of our insider secrets and tips so the day can run as smoothly as possible!
Start by planning the basics.
We’ve already published an article, which covers everything you need to know about planning a first communion party! We’ve also compiled a communion party checklist which you can download for free.
However, here is a quick recap.
1. Get The Guest List Ready
Every good event has a detailed guest list written weeks in advance. You want to make sure you have everyone important invited. So, it’s good to double check your address book!
Normally, your child’s school will inform you of the date and time. The most common time of year for communion is June or May, which is perfect for throwing a big summer celebration!
Once you know the time and date of the event you can start sending the invites to your guest. You can either buy some gorgeous ones online, or make your own. A handmade invitation is always a nice little touch for any event.
Now, onto the venue…
2. Pick The Perfect Venue
Picking a venue for your child’s first communion tends to be the most difficult part of the planning process…
As communions are for everyone, and normally happen at the same time of the year, it means that venues get booked up very fast!
However, a great way to negate the disaster of not having a venue, you could team up with a friend and throw a party for your children together.
Sounds like a good solution, right?
But, in times of the pandemic there might be a few guests that don’t want to meet up in close spaces, which is completely understandable…
Event planning, and event attending, can be a big source of anxiety for people nowadays. So, the best solution might be to hold the party at your house!
That way, you can tell guests to wear masks, social distance, or prepare the garden for outdoor seating. At the end of the day, it’s about making people feel comfortable.
After getting the invites organised, and picking the venue, there’s one very crucial part of the day to plan…FOOD!
3. Book A Delicious Meal
There’s never been a great party in history with some wonderful food, right?
After a long ceremony in the church, your guests will be hungry for some food. It’s good to have a variety on offer for guests who might have certain allergies, or preferences.
And, don’t forget to prepare bibs for the children! You don’t want their beautiful suit or dress to get ruined by a tomato stain…
4. Decorate
If you do decide to host the party at your house, you can decorate the place for the occasion!
Since it’s a communion, you can buy some religious themed decorations. You can find some ideas here.
If you need something quick, you can never go wrong with some helium balloons. They always look great, and the kids love them!
