Valentine’s Day is usually seen as a celebration for couples, but why should they have all the fun? Well, the good news is that you don’t need to be in a romantic partnership to make merry. Galentine’s Day, officially observed on 13th February, offers an opportunity to celebrate friendships, especially those between women. Whether you’re single, happily uncoupled, or simply in need of a reason to gather your friends together, a Galentine’s or singles party is the perfect way to bring joy, laughter and connection to an event that can otherwise leave some of us feeling excluded.
So, what are you waiting for? Gather your friends, pop the sparkling rosé, stir the mocktails and get ready to toast the people who make life better without the pressure of romance.
As always, should you require a little help and inspiration, we’ve created a guide to planning a fun, festive and stress-free Galentine’s or singles event – just keep reading.
Select a theme
Before you start planning your food, décor and invitations, decide what type of Galentine’s party you want to hold. Suggestions include:
- High-energy bash – Think glitter, themed outfits, karaoke and dancing – perfect if your friends love a lively night.
- Cosy self-care night – Face masks, fuzzy blankets, movies and mocktails make for a relaxing vibe. Perfect if you need a mental health reset.
- Afternoon tea party – Host at home or book a plush hotel.
- Games night – Card games, party games or nostalgic board games all make for a fun, low pressure evening with maximum laughs.
- Wine and craft night – Sip wine or soft drinks while doing something creative such as making jewellery, decorating biscuits, creating paper flowers etc.
Once your theme’s sorted, it much easier to plan what you need to do and / or purchase.

Send out the invites!
There are only really two options – printed or digital. If you really want printed invitations, you could personalise your own on Canva and print on recycled paper. Alternatively, digital invites are quick, waste-free and fun; customise a template on Canva, use WhatsApp or send invitations with Paperless post or Evite.
Aside from the obvious (date, time and location) don’t forget to include a dress code / theme (if any), what guests should bring (e.g. gift swap item, potluck food etc).
Galentine’s Decor
1. Pink Colour Palette
Lean into fun, feminine energy with shades of blush pink, rose, coral and pops of gold. This palette instantly sets a bright, celebratory tone perfect for a night with the girls.
2. Girly Balloons
Create balloon garlands in pink, peach, and white, and mix in metallic rose-gold balloons or alphabet balloons spelling “GALENTINE’S.” Add confetti balloons for extra sparkle.
3. Statement Photo Backdrop
Go all-out with a photo wall using shimmering fringe curtains, paper flowers and rosettes, or a neon sign like “Girls Night” or “Ladies First.” Add a small prop basket with crowns, heart glasses, and feather boas. Even better, hire a photobooth complete with props for soem seriously fun photos!
5. Floral elegance
Use fresh or faux blooms – think peonies, roses and baby’s breath to build a soft, dreamy tablescape. Layer with gold accents, pretty chargers and cute place cards for a polished look.
6. Friendship-Focused Wall Decor
Hang banners celebrating friendship (‘Girl Power’, ‘Friends Forever’) photo prints of you and your friends, or a collage wall of Polaroids taken throughout the years.
7. Lighting
Use warm white fairy lights or candles to create a soft, cosy glow. Alternatively, if you’re after a bold, fun vibe, why not consider neon signs? Dunelm and The Range both offer a selection of reasonably priced neon icons and words that fit the Galentine’s theme perfectly.
The perfect menu
Whether it’s a dinner party or a movie night, food is key. Here are a few ideas:

Potluck style
If you’re on a budget, or simply want to make life easier for yourself, potluck’s a great idea. A word of warning though, it’s wise to be specific regarding guest contributions, otherwise you could end up with mountains of dessert and nothing much else!
Bring a board
Like potluck style, but everyone brings a grazing board comprising specific items (such as cheese and crackers) or even a colour themed foods board. Guest will love the idea of preparing and prettifying their board while you, as host, simply need to ensure there’s enough variety and provide the drinks.
Pizza
Order in or use supermarket pizza and cook yourself. Add garlic bread and dips and you’re good to go. If you want to emphasise the love theme, you could always make your own heart shaped pizzas.
Dinner party
Ideas for a pink or love themed meal include:
- Prawn cocktail
- Oysters
- Raspberry desserts
- Brownies with pink sugar sprinkles or chocolate hearts
- Chocolate torte topped with pomegranate seeds
Afternoon tea
While you certainly don’t have to go pink and loved up, here are a few ideas that fit the vibe:
- Heart shaped sandwiches
- Pink macarons
- Heart shaped biscuits
- Chocolate dipped strawberries
- Raspberry / strawberry jam with scones
- Salmon and cucumber sandwiches
- Strawberry shortbread
- Rosé prosecco
- Pink fruit teas
Single’s Party Games and Entertainment
A Single’s or Galentine’s party provides the perfect opportunity for fun, laughter and chaos.
Games
- Galentine’s trivia quiz
- Movie quote guessing game
- ‘Drink if’ game – e.g. ‘drink if you’re single’, ‘you’re wearing lipstick’, ‘you have a dating app on your phone’ etc – do remember to drink responsibly though!
- Galentine’s bingo – purchase and print a downloadable version from Etsy
- Pictionary – use a flip chart if you’re a large group and customise your own themed word list instead of using the cards provided.
Entertainment
- Watch a favourite movie
- Set up a creation station for crafting – make friendship bracelets, create paper flowers, decorate mini treat boxes etc.
- DIY mocktail challenge – award a small prize to the creator of the best mocktail.
- Karaoke
- Hire a professional palm reader or tarot reader for fun insights into future friendships
- Set up a photo booth and props to create memories

Remember, the key is to choose activities that celebrate connection, inside jokes, and all the magic of female friendship.
Party favours
No Galentine’s celebration is complete without a little something for your friends to take home. Whether you’re hosting a cosy brunch, a glamorous girls’ night in, or a full-on sparkle-soirée, the perfect party favour should be thoughtful, fun and on theme. Here are our suggestions:
- Self-care mini kit
Create tiny pamper packages with items such as bath bombs, mini candles, nail polish or mini luxury toiletries wrapped in an organza bag. - Sweet treats
Pink or pastel-coloured gummy sweets or jellybeans
Personalised M&Ms
Heart-shaped chocolates
Candy bracelets
Mini macarons
Mini cupcakes - Photo booth prints
Set up a simple photo backdrop and send everyone home with printed snapshots from the night. - Personalised keepsakes
Customised keyrings, initial bracelets, or mini fabric hearts with the recipient’s name look great but don’t cost the earth. - Finishing touches
Place your gift in a pretty paper orfabric bag with a cute name tag (easy to DIY) and add a personal handwritten note for each guest.
Galentine’s day isn’t about rejecting romance – it’s about celebrating the different forms of love that enrich our lives, reminding us that friendship, support and joy are equally worthy of recognition – not to mention we love a good excuse for a party! 😉
