Looking for team bonding activities that people actually enjoy? Whether you are planning something low-key or a bit more lively, the right activity can help bring your team together, strengthen connections, and make work feel a little more human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on your company culture, team bonding might be a synonym for \u201cunrelated activities I\u2019m forced to do with my work team\u201d.  However, it doesn’t have to be the case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team bonding is the ongoing process of developing trust and easing communication. It\u2019s an element of the team-building process that helps foster cooperation, collaboration & loyalty between the members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key component is spending some social time together. For that reason, team bonding activities usually incorporate an element of fun. (A lot of companies refer to these as team building activities, which technically is a misnomer\u2026 but that doesn\u2019t really matter).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So if\nyou\u2019re ready to have some fun with your team, let\u2019s get started.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team Bonding Activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Below we\u2019ve listed some of our favourite activities. We\u2019ve stayed away from games, which can be used for team bonding, as we\u2019ve dedicated a separate article to the topic<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Ziplining<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With your team, why not climb up trees and swing around branches for an afternoon? It will make for great pictures and great memories. Just make sure everyone likes the idea before booking it. Some people don\u2019t like heights\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Pub Crawl<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Plan a pub crawl for your teammates to enjoy. You can find some pre-planned ones or organise it yourself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re a large\ngroup, remember to call the bar owners ahead of time. Pubs usually have a room\nthey can lend or hire out for the occasion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While\nthis can be a really fun team bonding activity, it might not appeal to\neveryone. If that\u2019s the case for your team, consider planning an alcohol-free\nalternative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\naddition, remember to keep it safe. Plan designated drivers and safe transport\nhome ahead of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Potluck dinner<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If everyone on the team is comfortable with the idea, why not plan a Potluck? Different team members can bring different elements of the dinner. It\u2019s easy to plan, and it\u2019s enjoyable for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If no one has the required space, ask to see if you can use the office. Ideally, you would take a break from work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Sightseeing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If cultural visits are your thing, why not plan a trip to a museum or a historical site as a team. You\u2019d be surprised at how much of your own city you actually haven’t seen. Just make sure not to force the idea on anyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Hiking<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A simple but highly enjoyable activity. Just make sure to choose a hike that matches the team’s capabilities (consider sending someone out on a test run to check it’s suitable ahead of time). And don\u2019t listen to that one team member who thinks a dawn-to-dusk hike is the way to go!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Cooking (or Baking) Competition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ready to get competitive? Plan a cooking or baking competition for the team. This is a really fun excuse to bring goodies to work. As a bonus, you can also use this as an opportunity to raise money for charity<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your team is very enthusiastic about participating, consider staggering the entries over multiple days. That way, you don\u2019t end up with mountains of cake all on one day!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Karaoke Night<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Judge your team carefully before\ngoing down this route. It can be hit or miss. However, if it\u2019s a hit, it\u2019s the\nmost fun you\u2019ll ever have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ideally, you want to book a venue for the occasion, which should be easy to find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alternatively, you can do it yourself. Get a screen, a speaker and a microphone, then look up some karaoke songs on YouTube (\u201cYour Favourite Song Title\u201d + “Karaoke”)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you don\u2019t have the equipment, you might also be able to rent the equipment for the evening or\u00a0book a karaoke entertainer<\/a>\u00a0for the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pro-tip: <\/strong>Make sure you test the equipment beforehand. The lyrics and the microphone need to be fully functional for this team bonding activity to work well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Llama Hiking<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Llama hiking\u2026 we agree it sounds a bit strange. The idea is simple: you go for a walk in nature accompanied by llamas. For longer routes, they might carry bags, but for shorter walks, it is really just you and the llamas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In some places, this is technically called alpaca trekking, and if we are honest, we are not entirely sure of the difference between llamas and alpacas. A quick Google search for llama hiking or alpaca trekking should help you find options near you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is unusual, outdoorsy, and guaranteed to be memorable, which makes it a great talking point for team bonding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
