Finding a location <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The good news is that you don\u2019t need a lot of space\nfor Slime Parties. If you have a large kitchen or dining room that might be\nenough. If it\u2019s a nice sunny day, consider setting up the party outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In general, you want to avoid areas with carpets and\nfurniture that has fabrics (such as chair linings). Make sure carpets, rugs\n&amp; nice table clothes are out of harm\u2019s way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t have space at home, you can also book a kid\u2019s venue for the day. The added bonus is that these venues will most likely have all the slime-making-equipment you need already on site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Choosing the Guests<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Every kid is different but Slime parties are most\noften done for kids between the age of 6 and 10. At that age, inviting between\n5 and 10 guests is plenty. Especially as you\u2019ll be doing manual activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to invite a larger crowd, enroll the help of additional adults! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Set up a Craft Space &nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to crafting with kids, keeping things\norganised is key to keeping things clean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re going to be mixing ingredients with kids\u2026\nexpect some mess.&nbsp; The good news is that\nslime is very easy to clean up as long as it\u2019s on a hard surface. Simply set up\na table with either an easy to wash table cloth or a disposable one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For each guest, you\u2019ll need to plan:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&nbsp;A small receptacle like a bowl<\/li><li>Stir sticks<\/li><li>An apron (optional) <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>At the centre of the table, lay out different colours and glitter for the kids to choose from. Don\u2019t overwhelm them with choices. 3 or 4 options for each is plenty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. Making the Slime<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Slime is very easy to make. For a detailed overview of\nthe process can view our article on <a href=\"https:\/\/partywizz.com\/blog\/family\/how-to-make-slime\/\">how to make slime<\/a>.\nEven though it\u2019s simple, you still want to have adult supervision throughout\nthe whole process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a basic recipe we usually recommend: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients for Slime:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>School Glue or White Glue \u2013\nWhat you\u2019re looking for is PVA glue. The most recommended brand for slime is\nElmer\u2019s glue which is mostly sold in the US but can be found in the UK and\nIreland. However, any PVA school glue should work.<\/li><li>Borax (or sodium tetraborate)\n\u2013 Depending on where you live, you can buy borax in the cleaning aisle of the\nsupermarket or hardware stores. If you live in the UK or Ireland, it\u2019s not\nimpossible to find but it can be harder to find. You can always find it online\nor use a slime recipe that doesn\u2019t use borax.<\/li><li>Food colouring \u2013 Adding colour\nto the slime is optional but it\u2019s recommended as it adds to the fun.<\/li><li>Water<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Making Slime Step by Step<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Start by adding 25&nbsp;ml of\nglue inside a bowl and 50&nbsp;ml of water and mix it with a stirring stick. If\nyou\u2019re making coloured slime, add 3 or 4 drops of food colouring and stir.<\/li><li>Add 25 grammes of borax to the\nbowl and mix slowly. The slime will start to form immediately. Keep stirring as\nmuch as you can.<\/li><li>Once the slime is hard to stir\nand pulls away from the side of the bowl, take it out and knead it with your\nhands. Expect to leave some water behind in the bowl!<\/li><li>Keep kneading the slime until\nyou\u2019re happy with the texture.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a younger crowd, get an adult to pour the ingredients in and get the kids to do the mixing. Then they can add food coloring and glitter to the mix. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, while Slime is almost universally safe, if you have a kid with skin allergies, you need to be careful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pro-tip<\/strong>: Ahead of the party, test out the slime recipe you want to use. This\ngives you the opportunity to adjust it (if needed) until you get the optimal\nresult. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. <strong>Playing With the Slime <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the Slime is made let the kids play with it for a while; touching and feeling the substance is half the fun (again \u2013 stay away from the carpets). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To keep things fun, you\u2019re going to need to establish\na few rules:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Don\u2019t touch the slime with anything but your hands. <\/li><li>Don\u2019t let them play with the food colouring and glitter once the slime making is done <\/li><li>Establish a definite \u201cslime-free zone\u201d where the kids aren\u2019t allowed to go\u2026 Especially if you\u2019ve made coloured slime.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on the group, the playtime will last between 10 and 20 minutes. However, if you plan a specific Slime game (tallest stretch, longest stick time\u2026) it might take a bit more time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pro-tip:<\/strong> If you\u2019re planning on using the craft space for food, use the playtime to clean the table and prepare it for the birthday cake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. <strong>Cake &amp; Presents<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After the children have finished playing with the Slime, it\u2019s time to kick off the cake and the presents. It\u2019s just a bad surprise for the parents if the kids\nbring home Slime and stain the carpets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, as you\u2019re hosting a slime party there is no\nway around. Try to find a small slime container that seals for each guest to\ntake away.
