Most people are willing to give back, they just need to be in the right settings. It just requires a bit of planning on your part. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this article we&#8217;ve listed key pieces of advice to help you plan the best possible event. We&#8217;ve structured the article into the following five sections: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"#section1\">Choosing A Charity<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#section2\">Choosing Your Fundraising Format<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#section3\">Corporate Fundraising Ideas<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#section4\">Ideas for Fundraising Prizes<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#section5\">Increasing Fundraising Donations<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"section1\">Choosing A Charity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The whole point of fundraising is, of course, to help make a difference. We want to have the biggest impact possible with the money we raise. Unfortunately choosing which charities to give to can be tricky. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t assume that\nall charities are created equal. Instead, take some time to research where to\ndonate money effectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t have to do this on your own. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.givewell.org\/giving101\/quickstart\">GiveWell.org<\/a> can help you find the charities that will have the most impact per euro\/dollar donated. At PartyWizz, we also refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/effectivecsr.org\/\">Effective CSR<\/a> who are based in Ireland. Check out your local area for similar associations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To encourage attendance and participation at your fundraiser, make sure people know ahead of time which charity you\u2019re supporting, why, and what impact you&#8217;re hoping to have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"section2\">Planning your fundraiser<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The format of your\nfundraiser will dictate how you raise money and the fundraising activities you\nchoose to plan. Broadly speaking, fundraisers take two forms: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ongoing Collections<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is when you raise money over a period of time, most often with a set end date. For example, if your colleagues are running a marathon they might be collecting money two or three months prior to the race.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fundraising Event <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is when you\nplan an event specifically for fundraising. For example, a fundraising dinner\nfor your employees. This is what generally comes to mind when talking about\ncorporate fundraising. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These events have a higher upfront cost and require more planning: you\u2019ll need to find a venue, book a caterer and organise a fundraising activity. However, they can also have a greater payoff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pro-tip:<\/strong> Regardless of the format you choose, don\u2019t make your attendance fee too high! You\u2019re better off making the attendance fee appealing, increasing attendance and getting people to donate on the night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"section3\">Corporate Fundraising Ideas <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Bingo Night Fundraiser<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Bingo nights are\nextremely popular for fundraising. Their simple to plan, easy to play and fun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every player who wants to participate, needs to purchase a bingo card. You can find these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bingoport.co.uk\/bingo-caller\">online for free<\/a> or for a very low cost. <a href=\"https:\/\/myfreebingocards.com\/numbers\">Each card has 24 numbers<\/a> and an empty space in the centre. &nbsp;Numbers are then drawn out at random and each player needs to identify if each number is on their card. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At its simplest, the first player to identify 5 numbers in a row (or a diagonal &#8211; different places have different rules) shouts out \u201cBINGO\u201d. The numbers are verified and if they are correct the player wins a prize. After each round, players are allowed to purchase new cards.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A different and really fun take on the classic bingo game is <a href=\"https:\/\/partywizz.com\/emma-slowe-DJ\">music bingo<\/a> where a DJ will play songs and if you identify a song on your card you cross it off.  Again 5 correctly identified songs wins.  This is a great way to play music and have an interactive game at the same time.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Book a Live Band<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Consider <a href=\"https:\/\/partywizz.com\/search\/corporate\/singers\">booking a live band or a singer<\/a> to entertain your guests during the fundraiser. The band itself won\u2019t be generating a lot of donations but they will increase attendance, make the evening more memorable and increase your guests&#8217; willingness to give. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also ask the\nband to encourage donations between songs and\/or to break up their performance\ninto different time slots (for example: 2x 1h with a 30 min break) if you want\nto have an activity or speeches on stage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, there will be a fee! Most professional acts do not perform for free due to the cost of performing (travel, equipment, time\u2026) and the loss in revenue which they could be earning at a paid show. Instead you may be able to ask for a discount or additional time given for free. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Hire a Variety Act<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Use a variety act as\na hook to get people in the door for the event. For example, this could be a <a href=\"https:\/\/partywizz.com\/search\/corporate\/magicians\">magician<\/a>, a\njuggler, a comedian\u2026 A great entertainer will make the evening!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most often, charity\nevents, book stage shows. However, you can also book entertainers to mix and\nmingle with your guests, performing for small groups at a time. For example, a <a href=\"https:\/\/partywizz.com\/search\/corporate\/balloon-modellers\">balloon\nmodeller<\/a> or a <a href=\"https:\/\/partywizz.com\/search\/corporate\/magicians\">close\nup magician<\/a>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on the\nformat of their show and how flexible they are, they might be able to\nincorporate fundraising activities in their act. For example: drawing raffle\nprizes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once again, asking entertainers to do the show for free is probably starting off on the wrong foot. Free shows have a high opportunity cost for entertainers. Instead, ask if they are willing to give you a discount or extra time or make a donation to your chosen charity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Talent night<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t have\nthe budget for an act, why not crowd source the talent? Ask your employees if\nthey would be willing to perform for the rest of the company. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comedians, musicians, dancers\u2026&nbsp; Even if you\u2019re a small company, you\u2019ll be surprised at the amount of talent your employees have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, this is a\ngreat way of getting people in the door but you can also use the acts as\nfundraising incentives (i.e until X amount is raised, the act won\u2019t go on\nstage\u2026). Just make sure you keep it light-hearted and fun.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Silly Auction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A Silly Auction is a great way to get everyone to contribute. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ask your employees and\/or guests to donate something to the charity auction. This could be anything from food, concert tickets to old playing cards\u2026 During the event, get someone to auction off the items. Don\u2019t be afraid to encourage silly bidding amounts as everything will go to charity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a variation, you\ncan also \u201cauction\u201d skills. For example, an employee could host a Photoshop\ncourse and auction off the available seats. It\u2019s a win-win for everyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this format to work well, you need an entertaining and engaging auctioneer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Fundraising Raffle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Raffles are a\nfundraising standard as they don\u2019t require too much planning and are guaranteed\nto generate engagement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sell raffle tickets\nfor a set amount and encourage people to get multiple in order to increase\ntheir chances of winning. Throughout the night draw random tickets and give the\nprize to the winner, ending the event with a \u201cbig prize\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure to price\nthe tickets fairly so that everyone gets one (or more) while still making a\nprofit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Casino Fundraising Night<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Host a Casino\nfundraising night. Set up different gambling games for your guests to play and\ndonate all the profits to your chosen charity. Set up a few stalls with\ndifferent games such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Black\nJack<\/li><li>Roulette<\/li><li>Wheel of\nfortune<\/li><li>Craps <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p> Unless you specifically want to do a poker night, try to avoid this game. Although it can be great fun, it usually goes on for too long. It isn\u2019t well suited for raising funds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a bit of\noriginality you can also add carnival games to your event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Balloon\nand dart<\/li><li>Duck\npond<\/li><li>Ring\ntoss<\/li><li>Bean\nbags<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You should be able\nto find all of the required props in local shops. Alternatively, depending on\nwhere your event is being hosted, you can also rent professional equipment for\nthe day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Balloon popping<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Balloon popping is\nanother classic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simply have a number\nof balloons on display. Inside each balloon is a piece of paper which is either\nblank or has a prize on it. Your guests can pay a fixed price to pop any\nballoon. They win the prize (if any) that they find inside. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once again make sure\nyou work out the accounting for this game ahead of time.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. Bowling tournament<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For a relaxed and\nsocial event, make a reservation in a bowling alley. If you\u2019re expecting a\nlarge group, explain what you\u2019re planning to the management team at the bowling\nalley. It will facilitate the process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Establish a flat fee\nfor everyone to play and have a prize (or prizes) for the winner. All the money\nleft over will then be donated to charity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lot of bowling alleys also provide food. If it\u2019s suitable to your needs, you\u2019ll have to decide if you want to pay or if let the attendees pay. As always your objective is to maximise attendance. Choose accordingly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. Fundraising Competitions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Raise money for\ncharity by planning a friendly internal competition for your employees. This\ncan be an ongoing activity or during an event. A few popular ideas are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bake Off<\/li><li>Fantasy\nfootball<\/li><li>Arcade\ngames competition<\/li><li>Sports\ncompetition<\/li><li>Silly\nsports competitions<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Try to choose an\nactivity that will engage a large number of people. Give out prizes to the\nwinners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11. Guess the sweets <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a large jar of sweets and ask your guests to guess how many are inside. At the end of the night count them out (that\u2019s the painful part) and give a prize for the closest guess. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most often this\nisn\u2019t a stand-alone activity. Rather it\u2019s something to do throughout the\nevening along with other activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12. Karaoke night<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Plan a karaoke evening to raise money for charity. If the venue doesn\u2019t own the correct equipment, check your local area to see if you can rent it for the day. You can also <a href=\"https:\/\/partywizz.com\/emma-slowe-DJ\">hire a DJ<\/a> or an entertainment company to handle the music. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the evening, ask guests to donate money, with the understanding that once a certain threshold is reached, the CEO (or pre-designated person) will sing. You can also ask every participant to collect donations before they sing a song or donate some money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">13. Wine Tasting &amp; Wine auction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to act\nlike a wine connoisseur, why not do it while raising money? Have a wine-tasting\nsession followed by an auction where the participants can buy some wine. You\ncan obviously use this concept with any other drink. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a variation you can auction some mystery bottles (hide the labels). Have one really good bottle and a few cheap ones. The audience can then bid\/guess when their instinct tells them to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Depending on where you live, make sure you\nhave the right permit to sell alcohol.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">14. Pub Crawl<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Plan a pub crawl for your employees to enjoy and then donate all the proceeds to charity. If you\u2019re a large group, call the bar owners ahead of time to plan everything. Pubs usually have a room they can lend or hire out for the occasion. In addition, if you\u2019re a large group, you might get a discount on the drinks which will increase your donations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While this can be a\nreally fun way of raising money, it might not appeal to everyone. Consider\nplanning an alcohol-free alternative for the others on the side. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, remember to keep it safe. Plan designated drivers and safe transport home ahead of time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">15. Costume Fundraisers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This can be done at\nan event or during a regular working day. Choose a theme and get your employees\nto put on their best costume for it. Elect a winner by a popular vote on the\nday and hand out prizes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Costume themes are\nunlimited but a few common ones are: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ugly\nChristmas Sweater Competition<\/li><li>Best Scary\nHalloween costume <\/li><li>Best\nteam costume<\/li><li>Best\nDisney costume<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"section4\">Ideas for Fundraising Prizes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a rule of thumb,\nyou want to buy one \u201cbig\u201d prize, some smaller prizes (that are still nice) and\nsome light-hearted fun prizes. Anything will work. Here are a few: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Approach local businesses for\nvouchers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Approach local business for vouchers, prizes and\/or donations. Most often they will be happy to give discount vouchers as prizes. It\u2019s for a good cause and it\u2019s potentially a new customer for them. &nbsp;Depending on what they sell, they might also offer you free products to sample. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Tickets<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Giving out tickets\nof any kind is always a success. These can be game tickets, show tickets,\nholiday tickets\u2026 it all depends on your budget. Once again check out your local\nbusinesses (for example: comedy clubs). They might give you a discount,\nespecially if you buy in bulk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Hampers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Hampers are the\niconic prize. They\u2019re cheaper if you assemble them yourself but if you don\u2019t\nhave the time, search your local area. You most likely have somewhere you can\norder them from.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Self-care Beauty Products<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After shave, hand\ncreams, perfumes\u2026 prizes will definitely make the winner happy. They are easy\nto find and aren\u2019t too expensive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Chocolate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Chocolates come in\nall shapes and sizes and you can find nice ones at all price ranges. Stock up! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. &nbsp;Bottle of wine<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on where\nyou live, this is a fairly cheap gift that has a good perceived value. As a\nrule of thumb, try to give two good bottles instead of one extremely expensive\none. It\u2019s easier to find occasions for them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Dinner for Two<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A voucher for dinner\nfor two is another easy one to plan. Depending on the budget you have, you can\ninvest more or less in this prize. For example: including the drinks in the\nvoucher or not.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Silly Prizes <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re hosting\nthe event just for your employees, don\u2019t miss the opportunity to hand out some\nsilly prizes. It can be anything such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Being allowed to arrive late next Monday<\/li><li>A voucher for a 20-minute nap<\/li><li>Assume the title CEO for a day with none of the responsibilities<\/li><li>Your manager will serve you coffee at your desk<\/li><li>Fancy Stationary <\/li><li>[\u2026]<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"section5\">Increasing Fundraising Donations <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ve got your\nactivities and your prizes. But to make the most of your fundraiser, you need\nto plan out how you can increase your donations.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Finding sponsors<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Look for some\nsponsors. It doesn\u2019t need to be anything big. Companies are always looking for\nways to increase their awareness. Ask for donations or for help of any kind and\nestablish how you can help them in return. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Make everyone feel involved<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The more your\nemployees feel involved in the fundraiser the more donations you\u2019ll collect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Gamify the donations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a classic\nstrategy. To boost donations set some objectives and make a challenge out of\nit. For example, if X amount is raised, the CEO will pay for a round of drinks\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Ask the company to match the\ndonation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a common tactic and it\u2019s worth doing to encourage employees to donate.
